Medicaid Nursing Home / Waiver Program

The Medicaid Nursing Home/Waiver Program provides assistance to the residents of Muskingum County through the Medicaid Program for placement in a skilled nursing facility or individuals who need ongoing skilled care who wish to remain in their homes. The staff of Muskingum County Department of Job and Family Services is trained to provide the best service possible to our customers and their families while being sensitive to the stresses that may be added to families as a result of dealing with severe impairments and the necessity to transition a family member from their home to a nursing home setting. We work closely with hospital social workers, the Passport Agency, the Bureau of Community Services and local nursing homes to coordinate all available services for the individual and the family. We also assist families in the resource assessment process and help facilitate decision making on financial matters with respect to nursing home and waiver certifications. The requirements of the program include meeting the basic eligibility for Medicaid along with the income and resource guidelines. In addition, the individual must be determined to have need for intermediate or skilled level of care.
